Fiat Lux: A Fluorescent Lamp Tkansceiver
The prevalence of electric discharge illumination has led us to consider ways to use discharge lamps for communication. This paper describes an optical transceiver system which transmits by modulating the lamp arc. The prototype power electronic lamp ballast uses a pulse frequency modulation scheme which ensures no perceptible flicker.

متن کاملElectrical feedback control for driving mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp
Joung-Hu Park Jong-Bok Baek Bo-Hyung Cho Abstract — Recently, a mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp has been developed for LCD backlight application, utilizing a glow-discharge mode instead of a discharge contraction. This paper proposes a lamp-driving system with a feedback loop which prevents discharge contraction and stabilizes the operation of the lamp ignition and radiation. By measuring th...
متن کاملA study of waste fluorescent lamp generation in mainland China
Fluorescent lamps (FLs) are already widely used, and demand for them can only be expected to increase, because of their energy-saving features. The potential health risk from the toxic mercury they contain, however, is receiving increasing public attention and concern. In this study, future quantities of FL production and consequent waste FL generation in China are predicted using the Extended ...
